On February 21, the National Multiplier Event took place in Rzeszów, organized by the Aviation Valley Association. The event welcomed 27 participants from 18 companies, one university and one public institution, and was divided into 2 section: lectures and workshops.

The lectures were dedicated to the presentation and review of the best practices in High Performance Work Practices for competitive SMEs in Aviation Sector. The organizers focused on the prospects and trends in Human Resources for 2017 including the best cases as one of the most important inspiration for the managers, recruitment process, and changes in the way of communication inside the company as well as with potential employees, individual potential of a person employed and creation of multicultural teams. The participants also had a chance to work in groups through The Group Facilitation technique which was used to tackle the above challenges.

Beyond the interest demonstrated during the event, all the participants that took part in the evaluation questionnaires agreed that the HiPAir project’s motivation, objectives and activities were clearly presented. 40% of the interviewed participants were sure that their organizations may use, adapt or explore the project’s outcomes in their future activities. Almost all respondents agreed that the best cases presented during the event were effective in promoting the High Performance Work Practice and expected results could be useful to improve the aeronautic sector. 50% agreed when asked if their expectations about the event had been fulfilled.

There most important take-away from the event, according to the participants were: ideas to be used, information about the implemented project, examples of the best practices and their online availability with more details.


On January 18, the 2nd National Multiplier Event took place in Turkey. The event welcomed 19 participants from various companies and universities, most of them related with the aviation sector. Since there were new attendees in the meeting, it started by summarizing the project’s previous phases. It then proceeded with the presentation of the best practices and best cases. The event included a discussion on the topics presented and ended with the satisfaction questionnaire. One of the highlights of the discussion, was the informative speech given by the General Manager of Fokker Elmo and his willingness to support the project throughout.

Participants recognized the added value of the project, but had mixed views on its specificities, with some stating that it lacks a tool for SMEs while others mentioned they could benefit more from learning about additional best cases. One of the companies present, Fokker Elmo, already implements HPWP in their workplace and its 2 representatives shared valuable insights from their personal experience with this type of practices. The mane take away from their previous experience with HPWP concerns employee engagement throughout the company as a crucial requirement for the success of these practices.

In general, the participants were interested in HPWP and acknowledge its need for better HR practices. The best cases presented were viewed as useful by the participants, in terms of giving them a better grasp of the concepts and how they apply in specific companies, if anything they requested for further cases to be presented in addition to the ones shown. One common problem to all participants was defining HPWP in one sentence, even after they understood its multiple possible combinations for their own organizations.


On December 12, the 2nd National Multiplier Event took place in Madrid, organized by the Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingenieros Aeronáuticos (Politechnical University of Madrid). The event welcomed a broad range of participants from aeronautical organisations, human resource management, service and training providers, and companies involved in developing aeronautical systems.

The meeting started with an introduction on the content of the project, its objectives and main goals, and the current situation of HiPAir in Europe. It went on to present the best practices identified in previous stages and their areas of influence within companies. This was followed by a brief discussion, and as a follow up on one of the questions posed by the participants, it carried on to introducing the process of creating the best cases, including the methodology behind it. After the presentations, the more practical activities begun with the director of one of the best cases sharing his insights on HPWP, in order to connect the theoretical framework with real life examples.

The main take away for the participants was that HPWP are very company specific, and each one should choose the practices that better fit their needs and resources in order to improve their implementation. In other words, the selection of HPWP is one of the most crucial aspects of its success. Other interesting messages were that: the companies should be involved throughout all stages of the HiPAir project in order to get the most benefits from it; the best practices should be disseminated so more companies can be familiar with them; a training programme should be designed to take into account the identified needs and priorities; and the direct benefits of HPWP implementation should be identified in order to involve more enterprises in the process.


The 2nd Portuguese National multiplier event of the HiPAir project took place in Matosinhos, organized by MENTORTEC in partnership with EPROMAT – Vocational School of Matosinhos. The event was a good opportunity to present the project and to discuss about the importance of activating, valuing and retaining talent in companies. In addition to the presentation of the project and its latest developments, namely the good practices collected and the initial design of the training modules, the event aimed to present a set of methodologies, tools and concepts that value the development of competencies and activate the talents, not only in the companies of the aeronautical Sector, but also in any company that aims to grow taking the improvement of human resources and working conditions as their main focus.

The session had an active participation of the companies’ representatives, which had as a common point the concern of improving the results of their companies through concrete measures related to the human resources, their efficiency and their commitment to the company’s objectives.

In addition to the interest demonstrated during the project presentation, the participants stated in the evaluation questionnaires, that the project’s materials are interesting or very interesting. When asked if they would apply the project results to their own organizations, half of them answered positively. The reason for the other half of those present not being sure about the application of these materials in their companies is that these companies are not deeply connected with the aeronautical sector, which worried them, since the project’s materials at this stage are still very specific towards that sector.

When questioned about whether the practical cases presented are in fact good practices implemented by the companies in terms of high performance work practices, 91% of respondents said yes and only 9% answered that they didn’t know. Similar percentages were obtained when they were asked about the usefulness of the HiPAir results in the Aeronautical Sector and in other adjacent sectors. The respondents replied unanimously when asked if their expectations about the event had been fulfilled. All of them said to agree or to agree totally.

In conclusion, the participants generally recognize the important added-value of the project and have identified 5 strengths within the event and the content of HiPAir: methodologies and tools to apply in companies; network established among the participants; fflexibility of the good practices for future implementation in other areas or economic sectors; different ways to actively involve the employees in the companies’ decision processes; real perception of the impact, benefit, sustainability and transparency of the practices presented.
